General Than Shwe of Burmese junta fame released a statement on Thursday saying that he is encouraging the populace of Burma to industrialise through the means of primary resources. He wants a stimulation of several industries like fishery and meat, and emphasised the importance of exploitation of the environment for higher per capita income.
There are a ton of ridiculous things that has come out of Burma and Than Shwe’s trap, but this is by far the most stupid thing that came out of it. You don’t need human rights for a prosperous economy but you need basic human rights. How in the hell are you going to expand your economy if the final product will only go to the chairman and his cronies? How are they going to so-called “expand” these industries when their resources for industrialisation are scarce? I can’t expand fishing if I’m the only one working and all I have is a freaking net. Also, where’s my road to transfer all of these resources? And exploit the forestry in Burma? Hey, Than Shwe, you realise who lives there? The ceasefire minorities that’s been biting your ass for a while now.
Ridiculous.
Whoever is going to APEC, please throw something at that man. Preferably a rotten tomato or poo.
